Flowers!!!
So having graduated U of L last year, and spending a semester in NSCAD learning about fashion and jewelry for fun(and because I was in a state of disbelief and shock at the idea of transitioning from student to sorta grown up), I am now working in a flower shop. So to keep learning after formal education ends, I have decided that the best way to do it is to keep a record of my creations and thoughts, a sort of portfolio of how I live my life creating. Because as soon as you stop creating and learning you go stagnant and that is just boring. Lots of pictures to come!!!

Wind II - The other side

So I have decided that Lethbridge is just too windy. The worst thing is that I can not do anything with the wind. I can capture the effects of wind, but what does wind look like? Its painfuly annyoing when you cant make art out of something. I can't seem to post video and photos together, but the youtube link belongs with this. I saw the lovely shadows with the wind and steam from something at the Univeristy so I decided that a photo wasnt good enough to capture it, and I was going to take a video of the other side of the hill too, to see the grass and wind without the steam shawdow, but it was really muddy and I slipped trying to go there, so now I have a dirty camera water bottle and shoes. I also got thorns in my hand, but it wasnt the nice big ones that photograph well. I was just reading on performace and ritual, where pain is present, and it didnt do me any good. No audiance. Isnt that nice?
Art is futile so why not purseue the unachivable with it? Makes sensce to me anyways. Its like the wind, you can keep chasing it but you can never catch it. Somehting like that anyways.

Let There Be
I do give the impressionists credit for trying, but you cant paint light. Painting the effects of light is quite possible, but light in its purest form is light. My photos are not to be printed, the images must be displayed on a screen or projected. I am working on the photos, I do not want black and white, that would deaden the images, but I do want muted tones, like a tinted black and white photograph. I am still working on composition, it is so complicated to get a good image. I want something a bit unsettling perhaps the feeling of being tilted out of the image. Strong, bold images are good, I want to keep it clean and simple.

Photography
So I have decided to try out photography. I love to work in diffrent media, from cake decorating to tiedye and bronze. Whatever is out there I want to find out what it does. So I am going to start taking my camera with me more and when I see something intresting I am going to document it, so that others can see it too. So far I have been working with limited tones, working with the architecture within the University that I attend.
Nothing is more exotic than where you live I think. When you see it in a diffrent way it is amazing. It is easy to be amazed by photographs of strange jungle plants or lovely models, but when something is so ordinary, something that people see daily without thinking twice about it, it becomes intresting on a diffrent level. Makes people think about how much they miss out on. Really that is the purposse of art, to point out things people dont notice regularly. Not saying that is all art is, it would be unfair to put something that is so complicated so simply but I think that is not an unreasonable summary.
